In The Name of the Name
The relationship between money and religion, money and God, money and action taken in God’s name.
The carved shape that appears in the parchment is the Hebrew letter “Yod”. Yod is one of the forms of God’s name. In Kabbalah, which assigns a numerical value to each letter, Yod’s value is 10. The coin chain includes ten Agorot, the smallest denomination of Israeli currency. The chain holds the shape of the letter, attempting to balance the counter forces of the stretched parchment. The parchment is held in a frame that is normally used to make mud bricks.
