12 Boats
Burned into the Klaf (animal skin parchment) sails are the words “If I forget you,” giving the boat its direction to where our longing guides us.
Where do they all come from? Each boat tells a different story of a journey, as well as a different personal step one might face on his/her/their journey. Each person surrounded by strangers. A child, alone in the masses on the boat.
Hope blows the sails and holds the sojourner during the cold, blustery night until the sun finally appears on the horizon.
There are times your spirit feels expansive and strong. Other times, the ocean seems infinite.
Sometimes the portal “in between the suns” (a Hebrew expression) gives us the access to see beyond our world. Weary and exhausted from the long journey, but the direction is not a question.
