Let There Be Leather
The world was created by God’s word; the meaning of the letters, their quality, their kabalistic weight and the secrets within them.
In the Hebrew language the words light and leather are two words that sounds the same but with different meanings. Both words are pronounced “OR”, but written only slightly differently.
At the basic level of the piece there is humor – a “wink”. On a deeper level, Hebrew linguistic studies show that there is a profound relationship between words that differ by one root letter. The work also refers to Adam and Eve’s story, and the different interpretations for what their suits of light/skin were.
