“Yod” Torch
The torch as a perpetuation of past memory, and as a beacon towards the future; the Hebrew letter “yod” is used as a representation of the light of a soul.
The piece features 3D “Yod” shaped units, relating also to organic and womb like bodies, bound together into a torch. The light that springs out (cutting edge LED lights) reveals the texture of the parchment, imbuing this ancient material with modern future-oriented characteristics.
The “Yod Torch” is also symbolic of the Holocaust torch, with six yod representing six million souls.
